The Eco Future Grant Programme, implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in partnership with the Delegation of the European Union (EU) to Türkiye, with a high-level launch event on 17 June 2025 in Ankara.
Funded under the EU’s Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA) III and running until February 2028, the project aims to strengthen the capacity of civil society organizations (CSOs) across Türkiye to actively engage in climate change mitigation, biodiversity conservation, and nature-based solutions. The total budget for the project is US$4.39 million, including a grant fund of US$2.36 million.
The Eco Future Grant Programme combines technical assistance and grant support to empower CSOs with the tools, knowledge, and networks needed to deliver effective, inclusive, and sustainable environmental action.
The programme is designed to:
- Support CSOs in implementing nature-positive and net-zero emission strategies,
- Facilitate partnerships between CSOs and local, national, and international stakeholders, including the private sector,
- Enhance technical knowledge, advocacy capacity, and access to resources,
- Promote inclusive, community-based, and innovative approaches to climate and biodiversity challenges.
“UNDP supports this new initiative that places civil society at the center of climate action and biodiversity conservation,” said Monica Merino, UNDP Türkiye Resident Representative. “The Eco Future Grant Programme will invest in people’s ideas and practical solutions to urgent environmental challenges. By working together, we can generate scalable, local impact.”
About the Grant Programme
CSOs across Türkiye are invited to apply for funding to implement projects focusing on:
- Climate change mitigation and adaptation,
- Biodiversity conservation and ecosystem restoration,
- Nature-based solutions for environmental resilience.
The grant programme offers:
- A two-stage application process tailored to CSOs,
- Grants ranging from US$50,000 to US$150,000,
- Project durations between 12 to 18 months.
Eligible applicants include CSOs working independently or in partnership with other CSOs, local administrations, development agencies, unions, chambers, and public schools. Applications are open until 1 August 2025, 17:00 (Ankara time).
The design of the programme is based on a comprehensive needs assessment and gap analysis conducted with CSOs in the fields of climate and biodiversity. These assessments highlighted the need for enhanced technical capacity, project implementation skills, and fundraising strategies.
Looking Ahead
The Eco Future Grant Programme represents a unique opportunity for CSOs to access resources, build partnerships, and amplify their environmental impact. Through its combined technical and financial support, the programme aims to accelerate Türkiye’s progress towards a climate-resilient and nature-positive future.
